Archer Technologies uses Microsoft’s SQL Server database platform to provide our clients with a solid, enterprise-class platform for data storage. Archer strives to take advantage of Microsoft’s enhancements to SQL Server so we can offer our clients the advantages introduced through revisions to the product, including enhancements to scalability, availability, and security. This approach ensures that Archer is providing the best possible environment for critical client applications run on the Archer SmartSuite Framework.
To this end, Archer is transitioning support for SQL Server in the upcoming v4.1 release of the Archer SmartSuite Framework. As Archer has previously announced, the Framework version 4.1 will require SQL Server 2005. The currently-available version (4.0.4) is the last version of the Framework to support SQL Server 2000.
There are numerous advantages to SQL Server 2005 over the previous 2000 version, which include*:
-
Enhanced security features for enterprise data management that include:
-
Security settings that default to the most secure option
-
Automatic password policy enforcement based on domain-level group policy settings
-
Fine-grained control over access permissions
-
Almost effortless upgrades from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
-
Up to 35% faster transaction processing, including improved response times on queries
-
Higher availability (99.999%) for mission-critical applications and five times faster failover
-
Up to 40% faster development environment through Visual Studio and .NET integration (resulting in faster time to market for Archer enhancements)
