Data Breach Notification Laws: A State-by-State View

Attention all security, compliance and privacy officers!

Has your organization been challenged to keep up to date with the growing number of states developing new data privacy laws, while simultaneously watching Congress progress with attempts at national legislation? We've found something that may help.

CSO magazine Executive Editor Scott Berinato and his team have put together an interactive, user-friendly map of data breach and disclosure laws state-by-state, as well as what’s happening at the national level in Washington, DC. Share this link (http://www.csoonline.com/read/020108/ammap/ammap.html) with your privacy and compliance colleagues, and help your organization demonstrate compliance with the data breach and disclosure requirements of your policy, compliance and incident management programs.

Example of the Data Breach Notification Legal Requirements for Texas:

I hope you find the map and accompanying information helpful.

Great find, Steve!  Thanks for passing it along.  The content is extremely valuable but I also am happy to have found a nifty little tool for creating my own Flash maps (something I've been trying to do for a while and just haven't found the right app.)
